Let's make EMBROIDERY great again !
In November 2020, Modefachschule Sigmaringen hosted another CREATIVE EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP for their students and it was a great pleasure to be part of it again. Together with a second lecturer, Jutta Erb, who also managed the embroidery digitizing, we coached the students and helped them realizing their ideas and visions.

The fashion design students had two creative days to discover, to explore and to experience the possibilites with embroidery and other embellishment techniques.
I brought some of the fabrics and materials i collected from many different suppliers giving the students the chance to work on most different products using machine and hand techniques in a very open-minded and creative way.

DOING - this was the main aim of the workshop. Just trying. Chosing fabrics and threads, trying to digitize the design and then stitch it right at the machine and see the results. Some things worked out perfeclty, others didn’t run at all BUT these effects were even better and led to new ideas. Besides embroidery, the students also combined other embellishment techniques. For example used the fluorescent neon embroidery threads on the overlock machine. Or combined transfer print with embroidery. Or created special handmade effects on sustainable leather…
After the two days, the students were happy and proud, heads and minds full of creativity and the wish to develop. Click through the gallery to see the great results:
