Autumn/Winter 2025/2026 - Trends in Embroidery and Textile Embellishment

Currently, we all sense very intensively the times we are living in. To sense, this is also one of the most important expressions for the autumn/winter 2025/2026 collection. To trust our guts and to care about our emotions and follow them. Trends, which are also mirrored in the following report and we invite you to immerse yourself into the following inspirations:

Textile surfaces will be very soft, reawakaning our tactile sense and enabling surprising haptic experiences. Hairy leather, (fake) fur, snake and reptile skins (and immitations) will be used a lot.

Rich gold hues (Gunold’s Poly Flash and Mety threads) on red lambskin

Copper shades (Glitter, Mety and Poly Sparkle) on snake skin

Handcrafted embellishments add glamour and luxury to every garment. Used both in new collections as well as in special upcycling processes to avoid rubbish and to give unsold garments a second life.

Also in the denim sector we’ll see the trend to decorate new fabrics or to repair damaged ones and make them unique and even more valuable :

«Normally » a fall/winter collection is dominated by dark shades. But the next winter season will show up with some bright colours and a lot of white and off-white shades, too :

Each new season is the perfect occasion to look for new and innovative techniques to intergrate into the new collection. At the same time, everybody is keen not to spend too much money for embellishment. So lets take a look to some highlights which we find really cool, using fringe-technique, 3D Printing, AI embroidery digitzing, sublimation print and laser-technology:

Embroidered letters using the  „fringe“ technique and Gunolds’s Poly Flash thread (by the way, the back of a sweater-fabric was embroidered here to get even more effect). Design: World of Textiles

Inspired by Munich Fabric Start’s key word for the autumn/winter 2025/2026 season, Jutta Erb (lecturer at Modefachschule Sigmaringen) developed this design using white polyester thread Poly by Gunold and sublimation foil by Mäde ! (Kasia Hanack)

We will be very well observed in this collection because FACES will be shown in many themes and stories. Both printed and embroidered, or in a combination of different embellishment techniques. See some inspiration here :

LAYERING will be very important. People want to feel comfortable in every surrounding so it’s a good idea to wear several layers to always have the chance to add or to take off a garment. Also in embellishment, layering effects add dimension and depth to the clothing:

NATURE – we see many organic fabrics on one side and nature-inspired designs on the other. At the same time, more and more stunning and really innovative materials are developed and used in fashion, sportswear and accessories:

Another important topic on designers checklist for autumn - winter 2025 -2026 is to add some more texture to the embroidery. This can be done by using special techniques such as fringe or moss, but also combining embroidery and special structure printing technology :

You see, anything goes but it’s important to be different and to have the right ideas AND the people who know how to make wearable fashion out of the idea. We can always add some glamour or function and the little extra to the collection by using the right embroidery and embellishment ideas. If you need help to realize your visions, just let us know !

Last but not least, please find one last photo here below, the original embroidery just arrived after having finished this trend overview. Inspired by our „brushed lion“ (you remember ??), this embroidery shows „Oscar“ and it is designed and embroidered by the talented Olha Turzhanska, using Gunold‘s Cotty 30 and Filaine threads and the Filaine brush.
